What makes it different

Writing and speech are not the same medium, and most study material is written. A paragraph with three subclauses is fine on a page, where you can go back a line, and nearly impossible to follow through headphones. An overview is rewritten for the ear: shorter sentences, the point first, signposts where the topic turns.

The honest case for it is the time it uses. It does not replace sitting down with the material, and it will not get you through an exam on its own. What it does is take the walk to school or the trip to training, which was never going to be study time, and make it a second pass over something you have already met.
